Looks to me neither side is going to win this one and a lot of people are going to suffer. Especially when you have police snipers leveling their weapons on crowds with children in them.

This whole thing brings up an interesting discussion about the continued militarization of America's police forces. Especially when you have arguments for and against it that are valid.

Representative Anthony Weiner (D) New York finally bared the truth for all to see after being caught with his pants down. Still as prickly a situation as not telling the truth is, it would have been nice if he just told the truth from the start.

More Cantor Tornado Victim Fun!

John Stewart highlighted Eric Cantor's (R) ideas for funding aid for tornado victims. Apparently Mr. Cantor feels there needs to be justification for helping those in need from natural disasters.

FEMA has declared Eric Cantor (R-VA) the House Republican Majority Leader a disaster area. This happened one day after Mr. Cantor did something to withhold funds for tornado disaster relief. Get all the juicy details here.

Tidbits

Reading through FARK I found an article that talks about how the Republican voucher program under the budget plan Paul Ryan put out could backfire on the Republicans. It's an interesting read on how profits could win out over old people.

Life at home is just going for the most part. The work I did to lay more stone in the driveway in front of the barn worked out well. So far water during rain storms is going away from the barn and not pooling up in front of and getting in to the barn. More work needs to be done though, it's still not perfect but it's a little better then what it was.

I think this weekend I'm going to start moving dirt and filling in holes in the yard. Leftovers from when the back of the house was worked on need patched up as well as the back yard itself with more dirt.

The cement slab is in where my Dad is buried. Soon they'll have the tombstone out there and my Mother is looking forward to that. Oddly enough I am as well since I guess it could be a form of closure.

Healthcare Debate

I'm watching it as I code at work. I have to admit this is way better then anything I've seen in the past. It'd be nice if they would have had someone from the CBO there to clarify things when one side says the CBO said this and the other says that the CBO said that.

The only other thing I'd change about this right now is the moderator should be Larry the Cable Guy. I'd be highly amused if he'd keep everyone in their time limits and telling them even just once to "Git r done!"

Voting

I don't care for politics too much, especially in other countries since it's none of my business but I hope someone does answer their question since they seem to think their vote was stolen over there in Iran.

I hope the people of Iran get an honest and truthful answer as well as their wish for transparent, open, and honest elections. I don't think they'd make that big and amazingly peaceful of a fuss if something wasn't rotten in Tehran.

Rumble rumble rumble...

So I watched Obama the other night and saw the rebuttal as well. After what happened at Mt. St. Helens, how big a vacation spot Hawaii is, Super volcanoes (*Waves at Yellowstone*), and knowing how volcanoes have wiped out places in the past, I figure I'd submit a little neat thing I found on the USGS site.

Volcano Hazards Program is pretty slick. It uses Google Maps to show locations of volcanoes and has a neat little chart showing which ones are rumbling along.

I'm happy when politicians point out wasteful spending, I'm even more happier when they do something about it. Still some things when mentioned should be elaborated more on as to why it's wasteful. Especially when said things are used to help save lives and educate people.

So ends my rant for the day.

So Senator John McCain decided to use YouTube for his campaign. A good idea really, but there was just one problem in his plans. Apparently back in the day he voted for a little thing called the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and it's come back to bite him in the backside.
